its awesome early-mid game but otherwise the sacrifice will outweigh the health gain. Like at level 5 you have 200 health. Let's say you have 6 blood magic, then youll probably steal around 35. 17% of 200 is 34. But so you gain 1 health and the enemy loses 35. But... lets say you're at level 20 and have 480 health. Thats about a 70 health sacrifice. So even with 12 blood magic you lose 12 health and they lose 58. I guess its ok, but only if you have the hp to spear or its being used as a "finishing touch"

This skill is really rather bad. Slow cast, long recharge, and as noted, the health steal isn't anything special (exactly the same as Vampiric Gaze), particularly in comparison to the amount you'll sacrafice.

You're usually better off sticking a good general filler skill like Rend Enchantments than using Barbed Signet.

Believe it or not, prior to August 25th, 2005, this skill was even worse than it is now, with a 30 second recharge.

actually like i said, its only good if you have a small amount HP.

pretty ideal for a 55 Monk. (8% of 55 isnt really that much. Its like taking a hit but 2% less damage if you have protective spirit on you, but youre gonna be healed for more.)

the recharge time is very high as you said, but all signets are like that.. except healing signet.

I'm curious about this spell ... you say at 480 life you lose something like 70 life? not quite ... 8% of 480 is 38 ... so if you're a blood necro you're gonna pull 52-64 life each time you use it, which is a bit more than 38 ... if you use awaken the blood you'll lose more life but get a little more, I guess that would balance out. What I was thinking is this: echo, barbed signet, mantra of inscriptions. You'd be able to cast this every 5ish seconds, with no energy costs, meaning you can constantly do 60ish damage and heal for around 20. Since there's no energy cost, you're free to use other skills in between (eg. gaze for even more leeching).
